Hello,

We have a house from 1930 that we are going to extend. Now I've read about houses built with straw and clay, and I think it sounds interesting. However, I wonder if you can extend an existing house with straw and clay.

So the question is: are there certain problems that arise when mixing different building techniques? For example, straw and clay handle moisture differently.

Regards, PH

Yes, it can vary a bit.
What is the existing house made of?

It is a 'typical' detached house. Partly crawl space foundation and partly basement. Wooden panel on the outside. Insulation... good question, but it might be wood shavings. Would need to tear down a wall to be sure. Mansard roof with attic.

We will also extend the upper floor.
