Hello,
We are planning to extend our existing balcony which currently has a depth of about 1.8m and a width of 6m and is under a roof. In the evening, there is no sunlight. So we will extend it outward by about 3m to get some sun on us even in the evening.
It is currently built with support beam 1 attached to the wall and support beam 2 attached to existing posts that also support the roof.
All support beams and joists will be replaced with new ones, the existing posts will of course remain, and new ones will be added at the outer edge of the new balcony.
I'm wondering what dimensions I should use for the new support beams, joists, and posts that are being added.
The new additional depth will be about 3m (total 4.8m), and there will be a span between the existing post and the new post in depth. In width, the existing posts have a c/c of 265cm, and so will the 3 new posts at the outer edge.
What dimensions for support beams, joists, and new posts are recommended? The plan is to use Glulam for new posts and at least the outer support beam. Joists are intended to use wooden joists and be painted.
Attached are sketches of how it is intended to look.

No answers but I'm trying out my design.
Beam 1: Glulam beam 56x270
Beam 2: Glulam beam 56x270
Beam 3: Glulam beam 66x315
Joists: 45x220 c24 (c/c 60cm)
Posts: Glulam 140x140
Will this hold or will we come crashing down if we dance too much on Saturday night?
