Hi,
I am planning to replace and extend a load-bearing beam in our house. In the middle of the wall, there is an arch. The entire wall is 2.75 m long. On each side of the arch (inside the wall), there is a framework. On these rests a load-bearing (?) glulam beam that is about 1.70+0.1+0.1 = 1.90 m long (90 x 260++ mm).
Now, I would like to move the framework to the sides and place a new load-bearing beam approximately 2.75 m long along the entire wall, so I can open up more space.
If I understand correctly, this should be considered a minor alteration and not require any building notification or whatever it's called. But I still want it done professionally, so I plan to hire someone for the job. I also want to get it done quickly, of course.
I have previously received indications that it would cost 3,000-5,000 kr. The first price quote came in via email recently at 50,000 kr!!! It feels like they were joking with me.
Can anyone give an estimate of how much it should cost?
(if anyone has tips on a craftsman for this in HBG/Laröd, I would gladly accept them)

Oh, 50000!!!
It's quite a small job. The big part is to make it look nice afterward. So if you want to save money but are unsure about your knowledge of installing the beam, you can request a quote for the beam installation and then handle the plastering and casing yourself afterward. I'd say just installing the beam is a half-day job for two people. Pay by the hour and supervise the work, and it won't cost a lot.
Anyone, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The problem that can arise is that the floor and ceiling around the archway might take a hit, so if you can solve that effectively, it will be even easier. The new posts must anchor to something stable, and the prop that holds up the ceiling while the work is ongoing must also be anchored in the ceiling and floor.
I will be doing this myself within a week, and it's my first time, but in my case, both the floor and ceiling in one of the spaces will also be replaced, so I don't have to worry about it as much.

Thanks for the input.
My thought is to do all the prep and finishing work myself. Mostly because I think it's quite fun.
The main reason we're doing this is because we're going to change the floor, so that's one less problem. The fact that the ceiling might get messed up doesn't matter much either; I'll fix it later.
Just what I guessed, about 1/2 day for 2 men. I've found out that the beam itself costs about 1200 SEK.

Warning against believing too much in what others write about time consumption without having seen the place. Temporarily shoring up while the beam is being replaced can be complicated depending on the overall load-bearing capacity. I have seen a poorly executed modification of a load-bearing wall, where the ceiling made me think of a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig.
Okay, I'll give a little update and a follow-up question.
No, they hadn't looked at it before the cost proposal.
Besides, I still haven’t found anyone particularly interested in the project either (are there no carpenters?).
In any case, I've moved forward and got a building notification approved by the municipality. They assessed it as a change "of a simple type".
Later in the text it says:
"Control plan
The following certificates must be reported:
-Certificate of the design's compliance with Boverket's construction rules (BKR)
chapter 2, chapter 3, and chapter 5. The certificate must be issued by a qualified designer.
-Certificate of the execution's compliance with the designer's instructions. The certificate must
be issued by the person responsible for quality (i.e., me)"
Can someone give a hint about what this means? For example, who can be a "qualified designer"? Could it be an ordinary carpenter (if I manage to find one eventually)?
I am very grateful for any possible input, this is starting to feel a bit cumbersome now.

Call the building committee and ask, they definitely know who can be classified as a "qualified constructor"
