It can definitely get drafty in the walls if it's not completely sealed with insulation and so on.

Ventilation in an exterior wall sounds far-fetched.

Today I was supposed to hang a heavy mirror on the wall in the hallway. The mirror is to be attached at the bottom and the top.

When I marked the holes at the bottom, I first drilled one hole to put in a plug, which went well. But the second hole stopped after 15 mm. Shining a flashlight, I can see that there is metal inside. I tried moving the hole up, down, left, and right. Everywhere I encounter the same metal obstacle.

So now I have about 10 holes in the wall, and the mirror just has to go up to cover the horrible wall.

What do you think I have encountered?? The wall is in the hallway and is an exterior wall. Can I just take a metal drill bit and drill through the metal, or could I damage something important?? Could it be electricity or water or something similar??

This is what the wall looks like now.
All holes except the one furthest to the right get stopped. (Yes, I was born with two left hands and am doing my best)

Hi.
3 scenarios in my eyes.
Someone might have placed a metal profile on the plate for drywall jointing or it could be a water cabinet.
As a last alternative, it could be a built-in steel pillar.

Not touchy, but it's a bit irritating when people can't read properly. A wall against an outer wall in a hallway is NOT a wall in an apartment against a stairwell, then it's not an outer wall.

And if you respond to the statement "such are located in stairwells in rental flats" with "we live in a house" it means in plain Swedish "No, we do not live in an apartment."

Above all, I get irritated that you're mocking TS when you insist on harping about apartments. In my opinion, it's very rude to point out to TS that you think she's unclear by deliberately choosing to misinterpret what she's writing as "it COULD be an apartment she means if you really stretch what's written."

Stop fooling around.

Suppose it's a water pipe, but you keep harping on about your burglar protection and how it will adhere extra well, then you're responsible for the water damage that occurs if they choose to drill through the sheet metal. You realize that, right?

So no, I'm not touchy, but I don't want TS to make a fool of herself, since it's actually more likely that it's electricity, water, or sewage and NOT burglar protection. Could it be the backside of the electrical cabinet?
Liable for any water damage is probably the one holding the drill, hardly the one who gave bad advice on an internet forum....

Ouch my bad. There should have been some marking if there hasn't been any activity in a thread for a year or so.

Completely missed checking the date.

But probably el behind it since TS hasn't responded further.

Totally missed checking the date.

But probably electrical issues behind it since the TS hasn't provided more feedback.
There used to be, but it seems to have disappeared again?
We ask @Per Eskilsson
