I am going to install new joists on a slightly uneven concrete floor, with some tiles on top. The old ones will be demolished and then I'll place the new ones closer together and a bit lower so the tiles lay stably at a lower level than today. It’s probably not very uneven, but I still have to prop everything up to get to the right level.
What is the easiest way to level the new joists? Is it just a matter of cutting boards from a few millimeters to a couple of centimeters and laying them out at regular intervals, or is there a smart trick? It’s not overly complicated, but I want it to be reasonably good quickly even though it will be leveled with floor leveling compound afterward.
I was also thinking of fastening it with angle brackets to the floor so it doesn’t "jump" around (vibrate). The old floor was a bit like that. There are some boards and other things to get to the right level, but some are completely loose.
For example, it's easier to get the right level if you just attach a piece of wood to the side and then tighten it from the side. But I don't want that, then it would hang on the screws.
