I have some sawn timber that I have stacked and stickered outside, which has been drying for a few years.
Now the problem is that I have, for example, made a stack of 1" and another stack of 2", but the width of the timber is a bit mixed in the stacks, and it often tends to be that what I need is at the bottom or in the middle.
It's completely impossible to try and pull out what you need. Taking down the metal roof, digging down, and then restacking what I don't need becomes a hassle just to fetch a few planks, so it usually ends with me buying timber...
Does the timber need to be stickered all the time, or is it just during the drying process? I'm considering if I can create some smaller piles that aren't stickered so it's easy to pick from, like at Byggmax. Can the timber lie like that for a long time, or do you risk mold when there's no ventilation between the planks?
