I was planning to mount a projector and prefer to have it on the wall. Unfortunately, the placement is right between two studs and I don't want to use any unsightly solutions with a middle plate to get good anchoring. How well does the gypsum hold, single 13mm gypsum board with 4 Expander (molly) plugs? The projector weighs about 3.5kg, the stand a couple of kilos, and it will hang out about 40cm. Molly plugs hold, but how about the gypsum board? Practical experience is the key, but I don't want the projector to fall down and at worst injure a person since the sofa is right below, and at best, nothing but the wall and/or the projector gets damaged.

It will hold without problems

Agree with hantverkare1 as long as there is a decent spread between the attachment points on the board (particularly in height).
