I've acquired a 1960s terraced house and plan to fix up the walk-in closet. The room has raw walls, i.e., seems to be some kind of lightweight concrete or similar. Large gaps between the wall and door frame, no door trim. No baseboards. I thought of putting up thin plasterboards against these to get a nice surface. I then plan to install a clothing system on these walls. What do I need to consider? Note: Never done anything like this before.

Also, the ceiling is unfortunately of the time, i.e., ceiling tiles. Do I need to remove it if I want to put plasterboards on the ceiling?

  • Wall with rough plaster and wooden door frame, showing gaps and absence of molding. Ceiling tiles partially visible, indicative of 1960s design.

Is there a risk of moisture through the floor or wall?

If by thin drywall you mean 6 mm renovation gypsum, such material probably needs a sturdy and even substrate to avoid cracking. I'm thinking about how it looks above the door.
