Hello!
We are building a carport with a storage room and have now started to approach finishing the interior of the storage room.

In one corner, it is especially a bit damp down by the concrete slab (insulated), particularly where the slab meets the sill paper, but even the sill is a bit damper there. I understand that we need to dry it out before insulating, etc., but it's sealed now so the air doesn’t circulate very well. I'm using a regular fan now, but I'm considering a construction fan/heater fan. What do you think? Should I do anything else?

Conditions: the slab is insulated with 200mm cell plastic. From outside to inside: reverse lock panel, nail battens (air gap), exterior drywall, 145 frame. Moving forward, there will be a 45 frame, insulation, plastic, and finally OSB and drywall. 145+220 insulation in the ceiling. The storage room will be heated.

  • Wooden framework inside a carport storage under construction, showing beams and insulation preparation. Visible concrete floor and issues with moisture.
  • Close-up of a wooden corner in a carport under construction, showing moisture on the concrete slab near the sill plate.
  • Corner of a wooden storage room with slight moisture visible where the wood meets the concrete slab, indicating potential dampness issues.
