I am not sure what it's called at the bottom of the house. I have an older house with wooden paneling and a grävlingsvänliggrund. Visited Ulva kvarn which had done so nicely with red metal at the bottom and now I'm wondering where can you buy it and how would you, with experience, attach it. Grateful for answers.

  • Red metal sheet installed at the bottom of a house with wood panel siding, secured with screws above stone paving.
  • Red metal siding at the base of a wooden house wall with grass and gravel on the ground.
  • Red wooden siding of an older house above a foundation of concrete blocks, with grass and soil in the foreground.
To attach such a sheet, you should remove the cover panel so that it ends up behind it, which is a job in itself. Then you will probably need to replace at least a couple of these cover boards.

You should also check how your foundation is ventilated, so you don't block any existing ventilation that should be there; if so, you might need to install vents in 'good' locations.

This would probably be best done if you're already planning a larger facade renovation, I would think.

Sockelbeslag seems to be the name of the sheet:
