Drill through rebar with SDS shank drill.
Hello
I'm drilling through the slab on a concrete floor with a 14 mm diameter to pull a cable through. The hole length will be about 25 cm when finished. I have now reached about 20 cm but hit a rebar.
I'm using a regular concrete drill with an SDS mount and what I believe is a standard concrete hammer drill bit/tip, meaning a slightly harder metal bit at the tip. It doesn't seem to get through the rebar.
I got a tip that there are:
hss drills, i.e., high speed steel drills
or multipurpose drills
or carbide tip drills
...all with SDS mount.
I chatted with Bauhaus, and they first recommended this:

Even if it's too short, there's a video clip showing how it goes through the rebar. So the brand and design are very interesting.
Unfortunately, they didn't have the right dimension that I wanted. Ideally, it would be 14mm in 400 mm length so you can really get through. BUT it's also SDS plus; I only have SDS.
So now the question is if there are equivalent drills that can go through rebar with an SDS mount?
Best regards
Fredrik

It should be a four-edged hammer drill of reasonable quality. There are long drills with a regular SDS mount, used a 90 cm long 26 mm one the other day.
Unfortunately, it is often professional shops that have it in their assortment, and often in the special order assortment. Do you have access to any form of wholesaler, construction/electrical/plumbing/tile?
Most professional groups need to drill.

SDS and SDS+ are the same. SDS Max is the larger chuck.
All Bosch 4-blade drills with "solid" crown should be able to handle both steel and concrete.

I'll try to google and check with Bauhaus and others. Sounds promising!!Totte_S said:

I've been using the Hilti TE-CX in reinforced concrete, even fairly coarse like 25mm diameter through a 50-year-old reinforced concrete slab. These bits eat through concrete and rebar like nothing, you don't even need particularly powerful rotary hammers: https://www.hilti.se/c/CLS_POWER_TOOL_INSERT_7126/CLS_CONCRETE_MASONRY_DRILL_BITS_7126/r4429
