Hello hello... found this exciting forum and thought to write a question directly to you :) I drilled 4 small holes in a joint that is 5 mm tonight and was going to put up a 45*70 frame. The screw I used is 5.0*80 and plug 5 * 3-5 mm that I had then.. When I was screwing in the screw, it started making noise around the hole =( so I didn't dare to screw any further. When I tap around the hole, it sounds hollow as if the tile is about to come loose, but it hasn't. What do you do? Drill a new hole 30 cm beside and try, but maybe not with too long screws..

Hope you understand

What's the framework? What are you going to do? You mention tiles, but are you going to build over it?? Substrate? Waterproofing layer? etc... you're leaving minimal info....

So I'm going to set up 2 countertops that are 186 cm long to use as an ironing board and for clothes. So I started with a beam that is to be mounted across, which is 3.72 cm, drilled 4 small holes through it and was going to put it up on the tiles that have a joint that is 5 mm where I also drilled 4 small holes, the distance is around 70-70-70-70 and plugged them. When I was going to put up the beam then it started to creak around the hole just like the tile was about to come loose. When I tapped on the tile, it sounded hollow around there.

What is behind the tile is concrete wall—then primer—adhesive—and finally tile.

Hope you understand now =/

Regards, Peter

The creaking, I assume, is when the plug expands as you start screwing and the plug presses against the tile, which seems to be loose. The risk of the tile cracking is high if it is loose.

You probably need a slightly larger plug then =)
BOMT??:o

You can't use the same diameter for the screw as the plug and drill hole since the material in the plug has nowhere to go. 5 mm screw is probably just right. The screw should be long enough to go through the plug. There are special tile drill bits available today that work perfectly for drilling in tiles. If you go to a professional building supplies store, they will help you.
