I have a very troublesome ceiling in the basement, concrete mixed with rather large stones that come loose in big pieces when drilled into. I need to put up a new ceiling, which means I have to drill and plug for the grid panel. Since it breaks into pieces, the plug doesn't fit in the hole, so I've previously filled the hole with gypsum and drilled a new hole in the gypsum, but this is very time-consuming. Are there any suggestions for another method for such a substrate?

do you just use regular plastic plugs and screws then? There are plenty of better products if you're just going to install timber, long nail plugs might be easier and perhaps grip better when they get a bit long.

yeah, I've been thinking about those types... need to purchase and try them out! I have a bunch at home, but they are unnecessarily long and thick. thanks for the reply!
