Hello!

I've run into a snag with the very last thing needed to complete our new laundry room. The idea was to build a box out of paneling over the pipes, connecting with the panel wall down to the top edge of the water heater. However, I have now discovered that it's not sealed between the drywall panels (not new) in the inner corner behind the pipe going down to the ground. And, of course, there's a draft here. I can't reach to seal it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a solution?

Greatly appreciated.

  • Utility room corner with ceiling pipes, vent and water heater; visible gap in plasterboard causing draft issue.
  • Gap between drywall sheets in laundry room corner, showing exposed pipe and copper plumbing, with light casting a shadow on the wall.
  • Boiler room corner with visible pipes and gap between drywall pieces, causing a draft; issue in completing laundry room renovation.
Sealing between the wall and the pipe shouldn't be any problem, or have I misunderstood?

You mean that instead of trying to seal the inner corner, I should seal along the pipe, against the wall, on both sides?

Yes. It should have the same desirable effect.
