Hi Bullen,

I have a problem. This might be like swearing in church, but I'm tired of renovating and have completely run out of ideas. After a bathroom renovation that went "a little" wrong, we ended up with a bare concrete apartment and have had to act very much ad hoc. Where what is once again becoming a kitchen there was previously a door. However, the frame needed to be ripped out when the floor was removed, the door itself has long been gone. Along with that, some of the fantastically poor "plaster" they used in 1939 when the building was constructed disappeared. We don't quite know what to do now. It's a functionalist apartment. The opening is 10 cm at the top and 11-13 cm along the right side (picture 1).

We have a few options, the most appealing is to leave it be and market it as "patina" or "charmingly unique" when we sell the mess. Besides that, we're considering;

Option 1: Build some kind of arch (then I need help on how to proceed, step by step as if I were 5 years old).

Option 2: Put up a frame again but skip the door as it will either knock the person sitting at a future dining table or constantly collide with the bathroom door. However, it's too narrow to have door casing on the left side, so it's not a top-notch option.

Option 3: A magical solution that you on the forum deliver.

Opening in wall leading to unfinished room with stacks of wood flooring and construction materials, unfinished edges visible on door frame. Cracked plaster on a wall near a door frame opening, showing uneven edges and exposed inner layers. Doorway in a renovation project showing exposed concrete, missing sections of plaster, and an electrical switch on the left side. Damaged plaster and exposed wall frame beside a door opening in a renovation project. Visible rough concrete and uneven surfaces. Tools and materials nearby.

Repair the plaster, putty, and paint.
Done:)

That sounds like a pretty simple option, thanks! :-) Do I need to frame anything? Will Knauf Rotband hand plaster work? (I've worked with it before and feel that I have mastered it)
