My porch has two pillars by the facade and four at the front by the stairs.
I would like to remove the two innermost ones so that there are only two by the stairs.
Can a 48x220x3100mm beam handle that without starting to bend like a banana?
I don't know what the weight might be on top; it's a normal small roof with gutters on the short sides.
But there must be some calculation method for how close beams need to be.
Since there are gutters on the sides, I assume it's a gabled roof. How big is the roof angle, would you guess, 15 or 30 degrees? Next question, what is the roofing material, metal or tiles? It's also a question of where in the country the roof is located. If it's a metal roof, and you don't live further north than Dalarna, there should be no problems. Unless it's joined or fastened in some unconventional way, anyway.

On top of the bargeboards, I measure 18.6 on one side, 19.4 pitch on the other.
The fastening is not visible from within the attic, so the installation might be of a simpler kind but done by the house builders and approved during the new construction.
If my desire is inappropriate in its current form,
can I then screw on an additional beam on the inside, say it becomes 48x220x3100 + 45x220x3100. Would that strengthen or just add load?

Low roof pitch, and concrete tiles are things that are less favorable. But you only have snow zone 2.0 which is good. Furthermore, the gable roof must be built with some form of truss. This will take the biggest load and distribute it to the two outermost posts. "All in all" you can safely remove the two middle posts, completely without risk.
1) Vad är lämpligast att använda. Tryckt 115x115 gran med gl30h klassning, eller furu med GL28h klassning? Nu när jag byter ut pelarna. (Vill helst ha så få kvistar som möjligt och då vore furu lämpligare, men den är svagare?) Har som mål att måla dom sen.
2) Jag bröt bort innertaket och fick se att takstolarna är på ca 111cm cc avstånd.
Och apropå om min utpekade balk är bärande nog så såg jag nu att balk+takstol så är den 38cm hög.
Alltså 48x380mm sammanlagd balk ovanpå pelarna. Och mittenpelarna som jag önskar ta bort står inte på plintar under verandan.
- Nästa fundering blir då hur byggnaden står emot sidopåfrestningar, ifall mittenpelarna har sådan funktion.
