I have just renovated my kitchen and noticed that the craftsmen applied silicone between the cover panels and the ceiling as well as on some edges, is this common? I've never seen this before...
It usually depends on how skilled you are with the saw.
But yes, some type of joint is probably common. However, you should not use silicone as it can't be painted over.
