I am going to apply a self-leveling compound on the existing slab to make it smooth and nice as a base for the aquarium. The simple question is, do I need to reinforce then?
1-1.5cm is what it will be at the thickest, as mentioned, I have recently ground the concrete and will of course prime it.

Nopp!

No....

Thank you for that. To elaborate a bit, when do you need to reinforce putty? Only when it's questionable substrates like wooden joists/chipboard and such, or?

Yes, nowadays some people build "bathroom floors" by casting a self-levelling compound (very thick) on chipboard, which requires reinforcement...

Self-levelling compound on concrete doesn't need more reinforcement than the fiberglass already present in the self-levelling compound...

Alright then I know :)
