Dilemma: installation of floor chipboard against exterior wall?
Hello,
I'm replacing the subfloor in the living room of an older house with a plank frame and I see that neither the floor joists nor the old floor are attached to the outer walls, only to the sill. I imagine they did it that way before due to movements in the walls. The flooring chipboards require an outer strip according to the instructions, and I am reluctant to attach the floor to the wall for the aforementioned reason. The question is - what should one do, skip the strip or complicate a solution?

I would probably have installed support boards between the floor joists along the wall. A bit unsure about how to best attach the support boards if you don't want to attach them to the wall or sill. Maybe one can use angle brackets or skew screws. I wouldn't have neglected to give the chipboard floor some sort of support at the wall in any case.

The particle board flooring requires an outer rule according to instructions, and I am reluctant to attach the floor to the wall for the aforementioned reason.
The question is - what do you do, skip the rule or complicate a solution?
Interesting question, did you come to any solution for this?
