Just realized I need to finish my kitchen, I've had it half-done for two years now, mostly due to lack of inspiration. So the plan is to use some tiles I have lying around and slap them on, but the day the insight of which tiles it should be comes, I don't want what I put now to stick so terribly that the lightweight concrete comes off with it. I want to be able to remove it easily. Anyone have any tips? Be sparing with the adhesive? Mix it "wrong" or something...

You should be able to glue the tiles with a "gentle adhesive." Or as you suggest, be sparing with the fix. Apply a dab on each tile and press it in place.

I have an acquaintance who was dissatisfied with the tiles in his rental apartment. He tiled and grouted everything on a 3mm masonite board, which he then attached over the existing tiles. When he moved out, he took the board down again.
