Bought an apartment and we're going to remove the glass sliding doors from a conservatory and make a room for one of the children.
I have measured the thickness of what's left and it's 125mm; of course, we will also install a door.
I could probably do it myself, but I know someone who's a carpenter, though he's always busy, so it might still be quicker if I do it myself.
If I'm going to tackle this myself, what should I consider and what tools do I need? Not the obvious tools, but thinking about things like a laser and such.
I would also like to hang a rather large TV on the "outer" side of the interior wall.
Imagine adding new studs and panels on top of the glass, the walls will get a bit thick then, but what does it matter, then you can tear it down and get the conservatory back when the kids move out.
You can set the door frame wherever in the hole, if there's space, open it inwards, otherwise outwards. The frame should then sit at the outer edge of the hole. It doesn't matter if the wall is thick.
