Hello!

Somewhere between digging up the basement floor and renovating the living room, we thought about redoing the roof on an extension (currently felt). I would prefer not to use roof tiles due to the weight, so I became interested in the Decra tile, which seems both stylish, durable, and easy to lay.

Does anyone have experience with it? Was it easy to install, does it hold up to walking on, does it retain its color, etc.?
Or are there other similar solutions that can be recommended?

I installed it last (or maybe it was two years ago) summer. Decra looks nice, is quite expensive, easy to lay as long as you don't need to cut, questionable to walk on, and stays nice for a long time. Additionally, it can be laid down to a 10-degree roof pitch.

The problem is that I haven't figured out a sensible way to cut or clip the metal. All cutting tools are immediately destroyed by the sand/grit that the metal is coated with. Next time, I'll try installing a carbide-tipped blade for metal in my variable speed circular saw.

It will be an expensive experiment if it doesn't work since the only suitable blade I've found costs about 1000 kronor. An angle grinder is out of the question because the heat development ruins the metal's rust protection.

When I laid the garage roof of about 50 sqm, I went through plenty of jigsaw blades, maybe 20 in total. The blades cut quickly for about 20 cm, but then it becomes slow.

Thanks for the info!

I have tried to find assembly instructions and recommendations regarding cutting without success, they have basically no information at all on their website.

I probably would have used the angle grinder if you hadn't warned against it, I assume nibbling isn't possible either because of the sand coating?

They have a good installation guide in Acrobat format. If I remember correctly, they recommend a Dewalt saw or a special Decrasax, which they claim can be rented. I have searched for someone who rents it out but have failed.

Here is the installation guide. Check page 15
