Danger with dust from blue concrete?
We want to embed pipes in the walls in a few rooms. The house is from 1968 and built of blåbetong (beams and load-bearing walls). The contractor is hesitant and says it is not suitable to cut into blåbetong because the dust is hazardous to health. Since I can't find any clear answers, my questions are: 1) How hazardous is the dust from blåbetong? I am fairly informed about radon and the increased risk of lung cancer, etc. My question is not a general question about radon, but about the "construction dust." 2) Given that it is hazardous, what measures should be taken when working with the concrete? Should one, for example, seal off doorways to other rooms, use construction vacuums, wet clean, constantly ventilate, etc.? Anyone who knows or has experience with such jobs? Grateful for answers!

All construction dust is harmful. As far as I know, blue concrete is no more dangerous than other dust. First of all, you should use a grooving machine with an extractor. It removes most of the dust. I don't have personal experience, but I've heard that the extractor removes 80 - 90% of the dust.
Then you should cover everything, tape up gaps, etc. You'll still find dust deep in a drawer on the next floor in 5 years. All concrete cutting/grinding creates an incredible amount of dust, and the dust gets everywhere.
And of course, use a proper protective mask, not just a disposable mask. But that applies to all demolition work.

A late but big thank you for the reply!
