I was thinking of asking for advice from those of you who know, if it's even possible...
I've bought a garage door for my garage, but it's a bit higher than the current opening, so I'll need to adjust the frame a little.
The garage is built somewhat like a simple patio roof, with a very small slope in one direction using tongue and groove boards and thin sheet metal on top.
The rafters are 170x45 with a span of 3.5 meters.
My question is whether I can "notch out" half of these 170x45 beams so they become 110x45 and then reinforce them instead?
This would involve cutting out a section, 2.5 meters slightly offset to the left where the door will go.
Can you glue and screw plywood on both sides of these as extra reinforcement?
Or maybe flat iron? 10 cm high?
Or simply, no, it's not possible, you have to raise the entire roof structure?
See the basic sketch of how the roof is built and how I plan to cut out.
