Renovating the bedroom. On both sides, there are knee walls where we now need some form of inspection hatch since we've removed the doors.

Is there anyone here who has created their own solution?
I know there are ready-made options to buy, but we have a strict budget to adhere to.

The hatch won't need to be opened very often. It doesn't matter if it needs to be screwed in...
It just needs to look reasonably nice.

It's just about building a frame and attaching a gypsum board that is painted or wallpapered like the rest of the wall, right? For example, you can mount them with rampamuff in the frame and then have nice screw heads in the hatch.
You can place a small cover strip over the joint if it's difficult to get a neat finish, painted in the same color as the skirting or one of the colors in the wallpaper/same as the wall if it's painted.
If the wall isn't very high, you could make the hatch go all the way from the floor to the breakpoint of the slanted ceiling. Then it might be easier to camouflage.
