We are lucky that our small two-room attic apartment with kitchen is becoming a small three-room with a roof terrace! But! The old brick wall in the "kattvinden," which is now a beautiful brick wall on the terrace, has extremely crumbly mortar.
What is the best way to handle this?
Replace the mortar?
Is there some kind of binder?
We don't want to cover the wall with plaster or metal!

Scrape out loose mortar and repoint with new hydraulic lime mortar. Not too difficult if you're handy. But it does take quite a bit of time.
