We have a 1960s house with a basement and concrete joists, which has an attached storage room, about 2 x 6 m, according to the sketch below, also with concrete joists, but instead on a type of crawl space. However, there is no ventilation. Is it needed in this kind of construction? There’s nothing in the joists that can be damaged (as far as I know), I suppose I should drill and investigate to ensure it’s solid concrete.

Is anyone familiar with this type of solution?

Regardless, I assume ventilation is needed under the crawl space? What do all the experts and building-savvy people say?
