Hello.
I'm in the process of renovating the kitchen and have torn out the old one. The new kitchen will be in a different location. Where the previous kitchen stood, I plan to put up drywall. But what should I do with the hole to the chimney? Previously, the kitchen hood was vented there. If you look into the hole, it goes in its own channel and straight up through the chimney.

Can I just put a drywall sheet over it, or do I need to do something with the hole?

I had bricked it up with some bricks and plaster/mortar
