Okay, I don't have any pictures right now but since I'm stuck in traffic, I thought I'd take the opportunity to write (I can take pictures on the side if it's helpful).

I have a staircase with upright studs that I've covered (drywall and OSB) and under the staircase, there's going to be a cozy corner for my daughter. The studs attached to the staircase follow the slightly curved shape at the bottom and are attached to the ceiling.

Since I covered the staircase and attached the panels to these studs, plus horizontal studs flush with the bottom part of the staircase, it leaves a rather unsightly finish along the entire edge on the underside of the staircase, and since the staircase is slightly curved/arched, you can't attach a straight plank/cover panel directly on.

How can I cover this nicely? Would just renovation wallpaper folded over and around the edges be enough, or is there another good way to do it?

I hope you understand what I mean, otherwise I'll sort out pictures a bit later.

I'll include a general picture of a similar staircase so it might be easier to visualize.

Thanks

  • A white staircase with vertical wooden slats, leading to an upper floor in a modern living area, featuring light wooden floors and furniture.
You should be able to jigsaw a rule at the bottom edge that follows the staircase's edge. Then you can put a 6.5mm plasterboard underneath (renoveringsgips), such a board can be bent if the radius isn't too large.

I have a staircase with standing studs that I've clad (gypsum and OSB), and under the staircase, there will be a cozy corner for my daughter. The studs attached to the staircase follow the slightly curved shape at the bottom and are fixed to the ceiling.

Since I've clad the staircase and attached the panels to these studs, plus horizontal studs flush with the lowest part of the staircase, it results in quite an unsightly finish along the entire edge on the underside of the staircase, and since the staircase is slightly curved/arched, it's not possible to attach a straight plank/cover panel directly onto it.

How can I get this nicely covered? Could renovation wallpaper folded over and around the edges be enough, or is there another good method?

I'll send along a general picture of a similar staircase so maybe it becomes easier to visualize.
