Cover parquet floor

Laying a parquet floor that will be oiled when it's finished... my question is whether I should oil first and then cover with mjölkpapp or cover first and oil when everything is finished....

If you refrain from sanding it now, cover it, and when the rest is done, you sand and oil it?
That way, you have the chance to save any potential nicks and wear before sanding.

I hope it won't need to be sanded at all... but I think I should cover it first and then oil it as the last thing I do....

Unless someone else has another suggestion...
