Cost of steel sheet, 10mm thick and 1000x2000mm?

Thanks. Oh no, that's worse than I thought, I guessed 3000. I'm planning to make a substantial workbench model but it's a bit much just for one board. I want something you can hammer on and have a large 20kg vise mounted on without any issues.SBH said:

It doesn't need to be stainless.
I want a workbench that can preferably weigh 300kg, it's just as well since it will stand firmly if you're hanging and putting pressure on the vise. No bladed tools on this bench.

Check with ex Bengtssons in Hagby, bought among other things my garagejärn there. They have "lösvikt".

I have a 15 mm thick welding bench and it is absolutely wonderful when bending and twisting, and you can clamp things that need to be welded.
Consider that SBH price is like your pain threshold if the format is 1x2 meters.
Try if there's something lying at the scrapyard, usually rusty but with a bit of grinding and paint it works.

I want a flat, smooth surface and for my vise to be really sturdy.Nimajneb said:
I have 45x170 lying around that I thought to make the base out of. To use excessively to make it heavy and good. I was thinking to put together 2 pieces like an L and use that as corner legs. Then I want it so that I can get the pallet truck under it if I need to move it around.
There will also be storage on a regular OSB on the lower part.
A variant that was mentioned could be to make a sturdy board with 45x170 that I put together and then cover with regular thin 2mm metal sheet that I have lying around. Then if I come across a real sheet at 10mm, I can just put it on.

If it would also be used as a welding bench, it's a bit doubtful if you want a wooden frame underneath? At least if you're doing long-term welding work on thick material.
Concrete and thinner sheet metal then? If you fully glue the sheet metal to the concrete, it will surely be extremely sturdy.
