I have seen that there is a lot written about this, but most are old threads.
What has been concluded?
Can you use "regular" corrugated cardboard, like pallet separators, as an air gap?
Possibly a coating with, for example, an oil-based primer?

  • Cardboard packaging used in construction, featuring green tape and instructional text about installation as an air gap in building materials.
you probably only know afterwards............if you know 100% that there will never be any moisture problems or anything else that in any way wets the paper, then it should work but yeah........

That's why I was thinking a layer of oil-based primer. Even though a "real" air gap isn't an enormous amount of money, you can save a few thousand if you go with corrugated cardboard. It has been used by some companies, but I don't know if it didn't turn out well, or if it just didn't "catch on".

I would go with oljeboard or similar proven and more durable materials to sleep better at night.
