Construction timber, nail or screw?

The weekend task is to assemble a small planting bed consisting of 2 pieces of building timber 120x140 stacked on top of each other. The question is whether I should try to drive a seven-inch nail through them or if there are screws suitable for the purpose, like a sturdy decking screw.

I only have a Clas Ohlson nearby and they don't have longer screws in their selection - I guess something 160 mm or longer is needed. French wood screws are available in larger dimensions, but I would prefer a countersunk head.

Jula had them, of course, but only in packs of 100. So now I have 92 screws left for the next project

Buying less than 100 just means you'll have the same worries next time. There are 100 things you can use them for... or at least 92. A slingshot maybe
