We have a house from 1875 and now the idea is to build a glass veranda in an old style. The house stands on a solid stone foundation. And where the glass veranda is to be located, there is already an extended stone foundation and a poured floor. The size of the foundation is about 3m wide, 1.70 deep. The height up to the existing eaves is about 2.45m.

I was thinking of placing 6 posts, two at each corner and two next to the double doors. Frame in between, place windows, and cover with paneling. What I haven't figured out yet is the roof. My problem is that I don't want to put the glass veranda roof under the existing eaves. The reason for this is partly that there will hardly be any slope, and then it probably won't look very nice.

The roof on the house looks as follows: shingle roof, roofing felt, battens, concrete tiles.

Does anyone know how to "go" up into the roof with a new roof? I'm not entirely unhandy so I know that valleys and various sheets need to be put in place. But what do you do with the roof trusses? Is it enough to make roof trusses for the glass veranda and then make some sort of "transition" to the roof, to then lay the sheathing, sheet metal.......?

Grateful for answers

Best regards,

Johan
