Hello!
First question in this forum as I am soon to be a new homeowner. But the house we bought has cast arches in the ceiling. What does this mean? I've searched around but haven't found a good answer. The house was built in 1945 and is a two-story house with a basement. The only thing I found was a locked article stating that it was common to build like this in the past. Thanks in advance!

It should reasonably mean that the floor/ceilings are cast, probably in concrete...

A cast vault simply means a slab of reinforced concrete with air underneath, which serves as a ceiling or floor, or both. It is a good and solid way to build.

So the rafters are on a slab of concrete in other words? If you are in the attic you see wooden flooring but I assume it is laid directly on the slab then.
