Hi, I'm planning to remove a concrete slab in the basement to insulate and pour a new one for a bathroom that will be 20 sqm.

Built in '69. Is asbestos in the slab common?

I've taken numerous asbestos samples from adhesive, grout, and lightweight concrete among other things during renovation but have never received an indication of asbestos.

Was reinforcement in the '60s uncommon?

Extremely rare if there were asbestos in the concrete, have never seen or heard of it. Regarding the slab, from vintage 69, it is most likely poured directly on the ground underneath. It was not common to have reinforcement in the slab at that time, as it was usually not cast for load-bearing function, but nothing is set in stone about it. There might be reinforcement like a mesh.

Thank you 🙏!
