I am renovating an old house where wooden beams run across from the long side.
I am thinking of casting a concrete pillar to support them in the middle. Will a concrete pillar hold, and is it enough to buy a casting tube from Byggmax (190mm wide) when the beams are 200 mm wide?

Hello. One of the columns will not be load-bearing. However, the other one will be. There are no drawings since they are from the late 1800s, but I will see if I can find some information on building techniques for old houses.
Old house, 19th century. Does that sound like a timber frame or possibly a stone house?
The cross beams between the long sides are there to hold together the lower part of the roof structure and prevent the walls from being pushed out. Therefore, there is only tensile force in these beams, so no support is needed for that reason. These older houses can essentially be blown out completely as long as you don't touch the outer walls or cut too much into the rafters.
If you intend to have a floor on top that can withstand loading, that's a slightly different question though.
