I am renovating an outbuilding where I need to have a floor drain in the middle of the floor. The surface will be tile. The concrete floor there is incredibly uneven, probably poured completely by hand ages ago. Additionally, the ceiling isn't very high, so I don't want to build too much height. The floor area is 25 m2.
I'm not keen on tearing up the entire floor and pouring new concrete; instead, I'm planning to saw a trench in the floor where the drain pipe will be laid down and then pour concrete on top.
When I measured with the laser, it looks like I need to lay 5-7 cm on average to reach the "collar" that exists along the walls (and cover this a bit). I'm thinking I have two options for materials:
1. Concrete
2. Self-leveling compound
Are there more options? Pros and cons of the above?
Right now, I'm leaning towards bringing in a concrete truck; it feels tedious to mix so much concrete myself (or self-leveling compound for that matter).
