Concrete foundation

Planning to extend and do not want to build with the same foundation as the house stands on today (torpargrund), and thinking if a plinth foundation could be an alternative since it will be expensive and difficult with a slab. What do you think about plinth foundation???

An excellent method!

You should just add a little more insulation at the bottom since you have colder air during winter than you have ground under the equivalent slab, but apart from that, piers are very practical.

How come you don't see this technique in house construction? It seems good and cheaper, so why not???
Most seem to choose crawl space or slab.

I think the reason might be cosmetic.
Maybe they don't like the "gap" between the ground and the house?

Don't most houses on plinths usually get closed up with leca blocks or similar, and then possibly get moisture problems?

Don't most houses on pillars also get closed off with concrete blocks or similar, and then possibly get moisture problems?

Then you get exactly the same problem as with a crawlspace on footings.
