Hi!

I'm going to hang a small hat shelf with 2 screws into a drywall (single layer). It will hold 2-3 jackets.

What do you recommend for plugs? I have Fischer Duopower at home.

I've read about Molly plugs, the question is whether they can be used when the part of the shelf that should be fastened to the wall is 20 mm thick?

one must check how thick material the molly can handle otherwise get longer screws (regular mm-thread)

Yes.
The plug is a component, with it comes a threaded screw about M5 size. Just replace it with a longer one. Or buy a kit and take the screw from the dubbelgipsmollyn.
