Hi, I'm considering covering our concrete steps that lead down to the lawn with decking boards. Should I first attach a framework and screw the battens in with expanders before adding the decking boards? How have you done it? Would 28mm battens be enough, because I don't want it to build up too much.

That sounds like a good solution. Use plugs and screws for the studs with stainless steel or use nail plugs. It also wouldn't hurt to have some syllpapp under the studs that are flat on the steps if they are exposed to moisture.

hello again, it probably leans towards attaching the studs with nail plugs, do you just nail them or screw them in, probably need to visit byggmax today for a while.

Nail plug is nailed in and screwed out.

Keep in mind that wooden stairs can become quite slippery in winter

Concrete steps also become slippery in the winter, now I have started, I have finished 2 steps and it's going well, but it will take time.

Hello, here is a picture of my stairs when half of the stairs are finished.

  • A wooden staircase under construction, with half of the steps completed, surrounded by a garden and patio area.
