I am going to build a house with Hjältevadshus. Their walls consist of two different materials. Partly gypsum, but also particle board. They describe them like this:
It is large-format particle board on the walls without joints (the joints are behind connecting inner walls).
Anyone have experience with such walls?
Is any type of filling needed on them?
I plan to paint the walls and put wallpaper in some places. What do you suggest for a surface where I should paint? I assume it's not possible to paint directly on them or put wallpaper?
So you're suggesting that I should put drywall on the inside of the chipboards? Isn't it possible to, for example, put microlite wallpaper and then paint on it?
Wallpapering can be done directly on it. Painting is also possible, but sometimes the texture of the board can show through the paint. It's not very attractive when that happens. Perhaps something glued underneath is better. Gypsum boards are an excellent solution if you think it's worth the effort. The biggest problem with particle board on walls is usually that they crack at the joints, and you avoid that problem.
