Chase lines on existing plastered interior wall?

Hello!

I have a space in the basement where some plaster has been knocked off, and I was thinking of fixing it. However, I'm wondering how I can match the existing thickness of the plaster in a good way?

I'm thinking of using guide rails in battens, but maybe that doesn't match the measurements I need, or how is it done?

Available in 6mm as well. Aren't any of these enough? Sometimes wood is used, like laths of suitable thickness, which are removed before it sets.

yeah, but I'm thinking don't the screed strips I put up have to match the existing plaster and its thickness?
