Change facade from wood to decorative stone

Hello!
I am going to replace my wooden facade (10m * 2.6m) with decorative stone, and I thought stones are heavy, so what kind of board can carry this stone?
Any one have an idea about the technical details for this kind of works, my idea is removing the wooden facade then using some kind of boards that carry the weight of bonding mortar and the decoration stone, and that board must be water-resistant and have the ability to adhere to the bonding mortar.
