Hello! I'm planning to renovate and install a new door in the gable of the garage instead of the long sides.
Old building with a timber frame.
The upper beam in the gable is just under 2m in height and I'd like to create an opening of 2.1m while I'm at it.
To add, the roof will most likely be replaced with one with a ridge beam, which clarifies why I'm choosing glulam in the plan.

The idea is to place a glulam beam above the current beam/stud and attach it at the ends to the old stud, cut out for glulam pillars, and install them to then remove the old section in between. See the beautifully drawn picture to maybe understand more easily.
Hand-drawn garage gable plan with a blue laminated beam, red metal braces, and truss structure. Shows height modification concept for a new opening.
The blue is glulam, and the red is thick angle irons and nail plates. Could it be sufficient to do it this way?
It's possible to supplement with a 45 stud under the glulam beam to take up some of the potential forces more directly, it would be at about 2.1m height then.
