I ignored it Well, my house has an external drainage that's about a few decimeters below the basement floor, so the water level never goes higher than that. It probably didn't even before the drainage. There was a raised floor with chipboard in the basement that I tore out, looked completely brand new.
I laid down landscaping fabric, a few centimeters of crushed stone as leveling, and then 15 cm of EPS and about 8-9 cm of concrete. Then I tiled on it.
You do not want to drain too deeply beneath the foundation because you have clay soil. Likely post-glacial clay. Clay loses all its bearing capacity if you drain away the moisture from it. And then the risk of settling becomes extremely high, almost guaranteed.
