It seems likely that we will use regular plasterboard on the ceiling, as we want completely smooth ceilings. With ceiling plaster, you get visible beveled joints, but you probably already know that.
We placed 4-by-4s along the rafters on both sides, then we attached masonite with a nail gun. We also had help from a rented panel lift. Feel free to check out our blog; there are pictures from this process around the dates October 11-12.

There are special air gap boards made of styrofoam that you can buy. They are much easier to cut and install than battens and masonite.
You just attach them to the sheathing with short screws or nails, and only at the ridge do you finish with a strip of masonite on the battens.
