Hello!

1. Does anyone know of a good alternative to plasterboard for a ceiling with a smooth surface?
2. Alternatively, a board with longitudinal joints, similar to the existing trätex boards that were previously installed as a ceiling.

I have looked a bit at Huntonit boards but am a bit worried about how the ceiling will look when there are such clear board divisions (many joints in both directions), ideally, I would like a smooth surface or visible joint in a longitudinal direction with panels cc 30 cm.

Thanks in advance!

Why not use gypsum if you want it smooth?
I use boards that are recessed all around so there don't have to be ridges at the short seams, and you get a super smooth ceiling.

Maybe it will be gypsum in the end as you say.
I have never installed a gypsum ceiling but think it's a bit cumbersome to handle the weight, putty and paint, fastening for ceiling moldings and lamps, etc.

I initially thought there might be a more convenient alternative :). I don't need the other good properties of gypsum (sound, fire, etc.), it just needs to be a finished white surface.
