Casting your own decorative stone.
I have a wall that I want to put decorative stone on, but being a DIY person, I of course have to investigate if it can be done myself.
Here I want tips on materials to cast with.
It should be on a basement wall.
I've considered plaster, but can it work with regular hobby gypsum?
Maybe if it's surface-treated?
Or are there other tips?

Curious question, why are you doing it yourself? Seems like a lot of work when it exists naturally.

Ah okay! Well, those are 2 good reasons to do it yourself at least
But isn't it difficult to get both the right structure and color if you make them yourself, regardless of the material you use? Or are you planning to have them smooth? Concrete should be okay to make, but it also needs to be able to be attached without the adhesive drying out.

Going to make a silicone mold or rather several of them. So I'll handle the structure there. I'll use color pigments for the color. The only question is about the choice of material. If you look at finished stones, they are gypsum-based, which seems sensible. Doesn't weigh that much. There is a special adhesive just for decorative stone, I think and hope it works, probably need to wet the stones before as well.
