Is there any limit on how cold it can be when casting with EPS? I will be casting a bit in my floor structure in the extension, and it is unheated yet, so it might be a few degrees below zero in there.

Can you cast with EPS on joist boards? The cake will be 555 wide, 220 high, and about 500 deep, does such a board hold for it or should one use OSB?

In the product information for EPSCement EC350M, it states, "Preparation: Ensure that the substrate, material, and mixing water have a temperature of at least +10°C." So subzero temperatures are probably not recommended.

Thanks! I have some thinking to do. Can't insulate the roof until the floor joists are in place, but can't get the floor joists in until I've done the casting :worried:
I have to consider building a heated "box" where I will do the casting.

No thoughts on having trossbottenskivor under EPS? I will insulate the joists against the existing house and due to how the foundation looks, it's not possible with regular insulation in all sections, that's why I'm casting with EPS there.

One option might be to buy loose fill and rake it out? The foundation consists of large stone blocks stacked on top of each other, and some of them extend into the sections of the extension.

If you're only going to insulate without needing any load-bearing function, can't you just fill it up with loose fill, polystyrene beads or something instead?

Yes, exactly. The only important thing is to ensure that no mice can get in through any gaps.
